STRUCTURAL THERAPY is a modality developed by Althea Northage-Orr, founder of the Chicago College of Healing Arts, and Allan Davidson, a well-respected Rolfer in Chicago. Combining the realignment principles of Rolfing with the gentle touch of massage, Structural Therapy is a form of deep-tissue myofascial release which causes lasting changes in a person’s posture and movement. Myfascial tissue wraps muscles and gives the body its shape. When it becomes tight through stress, poor postural patterns or injury, the body develops misalignments that can result in impaired movement, chronic pain and further deterioration of the musculo-skeletal system. The Structural Therapist releases the fascia so that it can return to its normal state by working gently and deeply in the constricted layers. Over a series of sessions, a structure is achieved that is well-ordered and able to function efficiently. A certified Structural Therapist will have completed over 300 hours of hands-on training and passed both written & practical examinations. This therapy is a must for those suffering chronic pain, soft tissue injury, impaired movement, & poor posture. |
